ELL Students

If you are interested in teaching an English Language Learner student, I have information for you in the Staying Engaged tab.

Welcome to Courtney's Basic Piano for Children

Are you a parent proficient at the piano and interested in teaching your child to play, but were never sure how to get started? Or perhaps an outstanding pianist who has had requests to teach a friend or family's child to play, but didn’t know where to begin? Whether you are home schooling your child or someone wanting to teach the basics of piano to a child, you are among thousands of other adults in the U.S. with the skills to play and teach, but simply need a basic outline and lesson plan for getting started.

With the few basic steps outlined in my website you can easily begin teaching a child to play the piano.  These lessons do not assume any prior piano or music knowledge. Courtney’s basic piano lessons will first give you an introduction to learning how to play the piano, reading basic notes, and learning basic rhythm and then will start you on some beginning piano lessons. This course also assumes you have a piano or electronic keyboard. There is a section in this site that describes the differences between the two instruments. Please note that this site was created for piano beginners so this should be considered as a starting point for piano learning, but by no means use this as your sole source of learning piano.

All material in this website is free to use.
